Youth 4 Success
Dawn Burnside is a youth activist who has always had a passion for youth development. Dawn has a gift; a passion and duty to live a life of servitude for black and brown youth. She was born and raised in Harlem, New York. An upbringing teeming with what most would consider hardship, endowed her with a sense of confidence and pride like no other. Dawn dauntlessly believes that there is nothing in this world she cannot do or gain, and it can all be accredited to her origins in what was once referred to as ”Black Mecca”. Harlem gave Dawn an indomitable spirit, a sense of culture, and a well developed awareness of self. Dawn recollects her experience living in Harlem, “ I can feel the history of Harlem by just walking down its streets. I count myself blessed to have lived and walked the same streets as legends like James Weldon Johnson, Langston Hughes, and Doug E. Fresh, just to name a few. I have an obligation to be legendary like those who paved the way for me. Harlem has raised some of the most amazing people, I have the honor and privilege to call Harlem home. For over a decade Dawn has worked with a number of youth organizations such as Girl Scouts, Miss Black America Princess, and the youth ministry at first Corinthian Baptist Church. Currently, Dawn is the Founder/Executive Director of Youth 4 Success. She’s highly motivated by social injustices, especially when youth are the subjects of the injustice. Dawn’s goal is to create opportunities and programs that build character, and she’s committed to fostering equitable education for Black youth.
